As I get into my car I am thinking I have to finish off the house for the baby. I call my fiancée to check up on her around 11h15 am and arrive to her house. As expected my fiancée was tired and told me she will rest for the day and I will get going to the house to work. We had worked hard in the house all week. As I go to the beer store and get some beer for some buds to come and help out. And I get to the house and I get started, 20 minutes later I get a phone call from my fiancée telling me that she has to go to the hospital to get herself checked. She wants to make sure the baby is fine. But she doesn't think she is in labor, the thing is she is... She tells me her mom think she is and stuff... so I run to her house and get her ready by helping her in the shower.
We leave to the hospital and we go to the labor section. The nurse checks her out and at first thinks she's not going into labor, later on her doctor Mr Tigert checks on her, and pinches her inside and says that should get things started and asked us to come back in two hours. We walk around in the mall beside the Credit Valley Hospital, she was feeling the contractions more and more... We come back and when her doctor checks her again, part of her water breaks!!! He confirms that the baby will be coming.
It was walking and walking and Ana was going through a bit of pain by 8 pm we where in another room. The delivery room which is basically a sort of private room for delivery was cozy. Her family came by to visit and it was my turn to call mines to let them know what was happening.
So the night came and after more and more walking and then she was on the bed, she asked for the epidural. (She was 4 cm dilated) I wasn't crazy of it for some reason, but that helped her ALOT. When they applied it she felt allot better and NO pain. After a little while when I was with her, there was a monitor where we would see the heart rate of the baby and also Ana's contractions. The heart rate was normally around 175, all of a sudden it dropped to 121, as this happened I asked the doctor if that was normal, she mentioned that it was one of the side effects of the epidural, and that I should worry unless it goes under 100. Right after she said that I see it dropping to 80... 70... my eyes where freaking out! I told the nurse this and she turned Ana to her left side and put on an Oxygen mask. The heart rate came back up right away!
So it was getting late and the nurse said to keep on giving her some water. Her cousin Natalie and I where there taking turns (sort of) but around 3 AM I passed out beside her bed on this sort of seat that turned into a mini bed... (I was up since 7h30 that day on a Sunday) Ana kept on saying that I slept while she was getting ready for the delivery, I guess I did when it was important. At 4 AM she was 10 cm dilated, it was TIME! I could see her little hairy head! We moved stuff around, her cousin grabbed the camera and the nurse helped her with her first push. The nurse called her doctor who was in. He came in and helped her push again. After four sets of pushes the baby was out!!! The rest is unexplainable the feeling you get. All I know is for me I looked at Ana as my hero and the baby the most precious living thing in this world!
After Three Weeks she takes a photo shoot!
